Discount Codes

Hey there, Resiada users! Let's talk about something exciting and super useful: discount codes. These aren't just a way to slash prices; they're a strategy to make your event stand out. Whether you're luring early birds or treating VIPs, discount codes in Resiada are your go-to tool. Here's a quick and easy guide on how to create, manage, and get the best out of them.

What's the Deal with Discount Codes?

Think of discount codes as your secret weapon in customizing how different people pay for your event. They're perfect for offering a special deal to a specific group of guests – like a thank you to your early registrants or a warm welcome to your special attendees.

Creating Discount Codes

  1. Navigation: Access the Discount Code Page by clicking on ‘Manage’ in the event navigation bar, then select ‘Discount Codes’ under ‘Advanced’.
  2. Adding a New Code: Click 'Add Discount Code'. You can configure:
    • Discount Code: A unique identifier for guests. This code will be communicated on the rooming list report to hotels.
    • Status: Enable or disable as needed.
    • Short Description: Summarize the discount's purpose.
    • Discount Type: Options include room night, dollar amount, percentage. This discount type will be communicated on the rooming list report to hotels.
    • Discount Amount: Set the value in dollars or percentage. This discount amount will be communicated on the rooming list report to hotels.
    • Order: How the discount is applied (e.g., to costlier or cheaper rooms first).
    • Applicability: Determine if it applies to taxes, fees, etc.
    • Credit Card Collection: Set credit card collection rules. Often, this is a great function to use on staff reservation, where you may be covering partially for the room and you don't require your staff to have to enter their credit card.
    • Restrictions: Specify start/end dates, maximum uses, applicable sub-blocks, specific hotels, rooms, and valid days.

Monitoring Discount Codes

  • Overview: View all your codes at the top of the discount codes page.
  • Status Toggle: Easily enable or disable codes.
  • Editing and Duplicating: Modify terms or create new codes based on existing templates.
  • Tracking Usage: Monitor 'Times Used' and 'Max Uses' for each code.
  • Validity Period: Check the start and end dates of each code.

Tips for Creating Effective Discount Codes

  1. Clarity and Memorability: Choose easy-to-remember, relevant codes (e.g., CONFERENCE30 for a 30% discount for conference attendees).
  2. Specific Targeting: Craft codes for distinct guest categories.
  3. Limited-Time Offers: Create urgency with time-bound codes.
  4. Performance Monitoring: Regularly assess which codes are effective and adjust accordingly.
  5. Waiving the credit card guarantee- there will be times when you will want to set up a reservation from a sub block that requires credit card as a guarantee but waive the collection of such. To do so, create a code with no discount (i.e. Discount Type= percentage and Amount=zero), but YES to disable credit card collection.

A Real-World Example

Suppose you're hosting a technology conference. To attract early registrants, you introduce a code like 'TECHEARLY20', offering a 20% discount for the first two weeks. This strategy not only boosts early registrations but also helps in planning and resource allocation.

And there you have it! Discount codes in Resiada are more than just a price cut – they're a strategy to add pizzazz to your event and cater to your attendees in a personalized way. Remember, the best codes are clear, targeted, timely, and always under your watchful eye. Now go ahead, get creative and watch your event fill up with happy, deal-loving guests! 🌟
