Understanding Global vs. Event Permissions

Managing users and permissions in Resiada involves two distinct levels of access: Global Permissions and Event Permissions. Understanding the difference between them is essential for securely and efficiently managing your team’s access across your organization.

🔷 Global Permissions: Organization-Wide Access

What It Is:

Global Permissions apply to all events within your organization and provide a consistent, baseline level of access.

Key Characteristics:

  • Scope: Applies across every event in your Resiada account.
  • Uniformity: Once set, the permission levels remain the same across all events.
  • Flexibility: Assign an entire permission group (e.g., Admin, Planner, Support) or customize permissions individually.
  • Non-Overrideable: Event permissions cannot override or reduce global permissions. A user with global access to a feature will retain that access for every event.

Use Case:

Ideal for core team members who consistently work across all events and need a standard level of access.

🔶 Event Permissions: Tailored Access for Specific Events

What It Is:

Event Permissions are assigned per event, giving you the ability to customize access for users depending on their role for that specific event.

Key Characteristics:

  • Specificity: Permissions apply only to a designated event.
  • Customization: Assign access to select features such as Rooming List Management, Reservation Editing, or Report Viewing for just one event.
  • Additive Only: Event permissions can add access but cannot remove or override access granted globally.

Use Case:

Perfect for temporary staff, third-party partners, or contractors who require access to one event but not the rest.

🔁 How Global and Event Permissions Work Together

Hierarchy of Access:

  • Global Permissions set a baseline for what a user can access across all events.
  • Event Permissions can extend that access for a specific event—but never restrict it.

Example:

  • A user has global edit access to reservations. They can edit reservations for all events.
  • That same user does not have global access to financial reports.
  • You can grant them event-level access to financial reports for a specific event—without giving them global report access.
